Your easy step-by-step guide to creating better waste with Bokashi Ninja®!

BEFORE YOU START

Choose a home for your Bokashi Ninja® in your kitchen or laundry that is out of direct sunlight. Next, make sure your grate is inserted in the bokashi bucket and the tap is set to the CLOSE position. Now you’re ready to bokashi like a ninja!

STEP 1

THROW FOOD WASTE AND SCRAPS IN YOUR BOKASHI NINJA® INSTEAD OF YOUR BIN

Cut large pieces up smaller so they break down more easily.

Use the MASHER to gently press down waste to remove air.

STEP 2

ADD THE MICROORGANISMS

SPRAY the waste with Bokashi Ninja® Accelerant Spray – 5 sprays each time you add food scraps.

Make sure the airtight lid is sealed tightly.

REPEAT steps 1 and 2 until your Bokashi Ninja® is full of goodness.

STEP 3

DRAIN THE BOKASHI JUICE

DRAIN the bokashi juice from the tap every 3-5 days.

When diluted at a ratio of 1:100 with water (approx 2tsp to 1 litre) Bokashi juice is a fantastic fertiliser and soil conditioner.

You can also use undiluted bokashi juice as an antibacterial to pour down and clean drains, toilets or septic systems.

STEP 4

LEAVE TO FERMENT

Once your Bokashi Ninja® is full, you can leave the bucket up to 2 weeks to ferment.

Don’t worry as it is fermenting and not decomposing, there are no nasty smells – hence no flies or rodents.

Remember to continue emptying your bokashi juice every 3-5 days.

STEP 5

CREATE FROM WASTE

DRAIN any remaning bokashi juice from the tap and then dig a 25cm hole in your garden, bury the waste and cover with soil.

Alternatively, you can move the waste to your outdoor compost bin, local community garden, sign up to sharewaste or bin it in one of our landfill biodegradable bags.

STEP 6

CLEANING

Once your Bokashi Ninja® is empty, simply rinse the bucket, grate and lid in water and allow to air dry.

DO NOT use chemicals to clean you bucket.
